A Lasting Power of Attorney is a separate document to a Will. It allows people you appoint (attorneys) to handle your affairs should you become unable to. 
There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney: 
Property & Finance and Health & Welfare. 
Your attorneys can make decisions about things like: 

Property & Finance  

Selling your home 
Managing a bank or building society 
Collecting welfare benefits or tax credits 
Paying bills 

Health & Welfare  

Where you live 
Day to day care, including what you eat and wear 
Healthcare treatment 
Moving into a care home 
You can apply for a Lasting Power of Attorney at The forms can be a bit tricky so if you’d prefer us to do this on your behalf, please contact us to request a call back. 
In addition, you will need to register your Lasting Power of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) before it can be used. 
There is a standard registration fee for each LPA of £82, payable to the OPG.
